Skewen station

The reports of hooliganism at Skewen station bring home how little regard is paid to this vital facility.

We have previously drawn attention to the state of the road bridge and to the lack of passenger information (the speaker system has long since been vandalised). Llansamlet station, just along the line, has a volunteer manager and more facilities. Why not Skewen? Do Network Rail and the council see it as an embarrassment?

Arriva Trains Wales who manage the stations in South Wales run a sponsor a station programme.

It should be run for the community by the community. Trying to score political points of NPT council is lame.

Instead of barriers why not look for a solution?

Aberafan & Neath Lib Dems don't do cheap and lame digs at Neath Port Talbot Council, they do proper 110% digs at the Council, as the Labour party is about to find out!!!!

my point was to be positive and do something instead that benefits the community and benefits the community YOU want to represent!

Funny that Arriva did not mention this "sponsor a station" scheme when I contacted them concerning the matters mentioned in the blog.

I don't suppose the community council was made aware of it, either, but I will check.

Aha! Would we be proposing a closer working relationship between Lib Dem and Plaid activists here?

Whatever happens at national level, it would appear from Cllr. Llewelyn's speech at the assembly election count that there is no love lost between Labour and Plaid locally. So, yes, I'm sure there is scope for cooperating on matters of mutual interest in Neath and Port Talbot.

As to the adoption of Skewen station, it is to be discussed by the community council this coming week.
