Commenting on PMI figures which show the lowest growth in the manufacturing sector since Autumn 2016, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Vince Cable said: “Today’s survey data confirms that the significant slowdown in overall economic growth reported last week is hurting British manufacturers. While the weaker pound and robust global growth may have propped up the sector for a while, this could not compensate for the deepening economic uncertainty caused by Brexit, as the PMI survey itself concludes. “One of the major reasons for the uncertainty in manufacturing is the very disruptive impact on supply chains from leaving the EU. We need to maintain the access to European markets that is crucial British industry.”
