Having deceived voters big-time on fees to get into power, why would any rational voter trust Clegg's blandishments on this massive transfer of bank inflicted debt onto our children's shoulders. Many, perhaps most, students will never be able to pay it off. They will not only pay higher taxes for decades, but borrowing for businesses or homes will become impossible for many. Truly, a betrayal of historic proportions
The package proposed by Vince Cable is more progressive than what Labour left. Don't forget that Labour intended to double the cap if they had been returned. What's more, part-time students will no longer have to pay upfront fees.
