Prisons Inspector's report shames government

Responding to a report from the Chief Prisons Inspector Peter Clarke on prison conditions, Home Affairs Spokesperson Ed Davey said:  “The prison conditions described in this report should shame the Government.   “Prisons should be centres of rehabilitation, yet these inhumane conditions show prisons are purely punitive.   “The Conservatives cannot continue to treat prisoners as though they are subhuman.”
