The half-mill. hunt for missing HMRC discs

silicon.com reports that the taxpayer has been landed with a £473,544 bill for the hunt for the missing HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) data discs.

The Metropolitan Police Service mounted a months-long search for the data discs containing 25 million child benefit records after they went missing in October 2007.

I've got them, I'm using then as tea coasters.

Does the government department want them back then?

They will have to join the queue, everyone is after me; more in demand than Bin Laden, although I'm a little less conspicuous than a 6'3" Saudi with a limp.

In the words of Kenneth Williams, "Infamy! Infamy! they've all got it in form me!"
