Windrush Day is a victory

The Liberal Democrats welcome the announcement that June 22nd will become National Windrush Day, after long campaigning for this decision. Liberal Democrat Baroness Floella Benjamin said:    “I am delighted that the Government are announcing a National Windrush Day. The Windrush Generation have contributed a huge amount to British society, and an annual day will help ensure this is never forgotten.   “The Liberal Democrats are the only party who have been calling for this to happen for many years, and certainly long before the recent high-profile coverage of this issue.   “National Windrush Day is more than simply symbolic event, but will be an important opportunity each year to reflect on the richness and diversity of British society.”
