Gambling industry must sit up and take notice

Responding to the news that SkyBet has been fined £1 million for failing to protect vulnerable gamblers, Tim Clement-Jones, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson the Creative Industries, said:   “This fine should make the rest of the industry sit up and take notice that they must take their responsibilities towards customers seriously. "If people have been allowed to place bets having self referred for exclusion due to addictive tendencies then that is a serious failure of the system with vulnerable people being failed by those in positions of power. They have a duty to protect those at risk, and that should always take priority over profits.”
